Piano of the Future Review
Piano of the Future Review

As someone who is extremely passionate about music, it is safe to say that I was beyond excited to attend this event, and it did not disappoint.
One of the first things that struck me was the diverse audience. A variety of ages attended, from young to mature and older people. Exposing children to music at a young age is crucial and can spark a lifelong appreciation for the arts. This event provided a perfect opportunity for parents to cultivate their children’s growing interest in music, and was a very special afternoon.
The show was exceptionally engaging, both visually and audibly. The combination of captivating visuals and rich soundscapes immediately grabbed everyone’s attention. Mathematical and geometric shapes were displayed on a projector and would appear while Larkhall played, each one perfectly coordinated with the notes. The clever use of visuals not only complemented the music but also added an intriguing layer of complexity to the performance. All in all, the event was a testament to the power of innovative art, and demonstrated a remarkable level of creativity and technical skill.
My favourite part of the show had to be the poetry section. As someone who enjoys literature and poetry, this segment was especially interesting, and resonated deeply with me. The evocative use of language combined with music created a powerful, immersive experience. As Larkhall played, letters that corresponded to the notes appeared, and a software would complete the sentence. Larkhall’s delicate and graceful playing added a layer of elegance, making the poetry section a standout moment of the show.
Overall, the afternoon was a brilliant display of music and technology, and how the two can be intertwined to create a mesmerising experience. The performance was not only a testament to artistic creativity, but also an exploration of the possibilities that arise when different forms of art converge.
I had the privilege of speaking to Larkhall after the show, which provided me with valuable insight into the path they took to this unique area of music and art. Larkshall shared their journey of learning classical piano as a child, going into coding and tech as an adult and eventually combining the two. They are undeniably talented and deserved every second of the applause at the end.
